Omnia Space Attends Student Union Housing Fair

The staff at Omnia Space were very excited to have a stand at the Sheffield University Students’ Union Smart Move Housing Fair last week, which was a great opportunity for students to meet reputable landlords and letting agents who are SNUG accredited.

It was a busy event with a great atmosphere, and a lot of goodies were on offer for browsing students including bags, stress balls, and bottles, as well as other handouts such as glow sticks and sweets. It was also a great opportunity for us to speak with students about their requirements for next year and our great value Sheffield University student accommodation.

The Smart Move program is designed to help students make sensible housing choices. Many students have only been away from home a few months and are already starting to feel like they’re under pressure to sort out their accommodation for the next academic year. The Smart Move program stresses that it’s important not to panic and rush into an arrangement that you’re going to regret later down the line.

All the landlords and letting agents at the Housing Fair were SNUG accredited. This is a scheme Sheffield City Council have put in place to protect students against those shady landlords who may try to push unsafe student housing on unsuspecting undergraduates. All student accommodation in Sheffield which is part of the scheme is regularly inspected for both safety and overall living standard; naturally all of our student housing passes with flying colours.

At the Housing Fair the University of Sheffield Students’ Union handed out Smart Move guides, which break down the entire process of finding student accommodation into five easy steps.
